Alumina refinery plant «Phrygia» (the city of Fria. The Republic of Guinea)
Enhanced capacity to 1.15 million tons of alumina per year. Railway transport.

The project on alumina refinery plant «Phrygia», Fria (Republic of Guinea) expansion to capacity of production of 1.15 million tons of alumina per year, includes the modernization of railway transport, including stations Kimbo and Conakry, as well as, partially, the reconstruction of the 145 km length access road.
Client — Russian company «RUSAL VAMI.» The plant is located 175 m — 230 m above sea level.
The annual turnover of rail plant in respect of the current year will amount:
— Upon arrival — 671 000 tons;
— Upon departing — 1 158 000 tons.
Wagon turnover (arrival and departure) — 214 cars per day.
The project provides for the construction (reconstruction) of the following facilities:
Kimbo station:
— Additional laying of track;
— Construction of the end of the line for individual wagons or railway equipment settling;
— The transfer of racks stripping cars, a 1 car capacity;
— Installation of car scales the model HDR-50 on the stacking station tracks.

for access tracks:

— Replacement in separate locations for new turnouts (in the main course).
by station Conakry:
— Restoration of the encircling route at the terminal «ART»;
— Installation of car scales strain (model VVD-50).
Locomotive depot at the station Kimbo:

— Reconstruction of the overpass fire line;
— additional building.
There are three main options of the railway transportation project.
Option 1 — freight transfer is carried out by double headers of G26CU series; train crossing is performed at the Conakry station.
Option 2 — freight transfer is carried out by double headers of G26CU series; train crossing is performed at separate haul points.

Option 3- freight transfer is carried out by double headers of G26CU series, train crossing is performed at the switching tracks.

Option 2 is recommended for the following reasons:
— As the trains do not cross at the end points, Conakry and Kimbo stations are off loaded;
— The possibility for further increasing the volume of freight traffic in the long term;
— Minimizing the number of transfers per day.
